The 2023 Ford Escape is a compact SUV that seats five passengers. It has standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. The base engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. The optional engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

2023 Ford Escape: What’s New?
You need to feast your eyes on the 2023 Ford Escape. It just got an attractive facelift to make it look more confident and modern. Aggressive styling finally matches the power this SUV delivers.
According to Car and Driver, the new Escape was spotted outside its production facility in Louisville, Kentucky. The Escape no longer looks a bit bland, but instead features angled LED headlights with a light bar that runs across the top of the grille.

The grille is a bit smaller, the front bumper is more square and the fog lights are more prominent. The rear end has also been redesigned, and we might expect a new wheel design. Plus, new paint shades should be available.
Add a faux skid plate, and it looks a little stiff. This could indicate a tougher off-road trim is on the way, but we’ll have to wait and find out more. The new Ford Escape is expected to go on sale this fall.
Does the 2023 Escape have more power?
Official specs for the 2023 Ford Escape haven’t been released, but it could get more power. However, the Escape already offers more engine options than its rivals and doesn’t require more muscle.
With the standard 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, you get 191 hp and 19 lb-ft of torque on average. You can upgrade to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder for an exciting 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.

Additionally, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is paired with an electric motor in hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. This setup produces 200 hp. Depending on the engine, the Escape can go from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.7 to 8.5 seconds.
The Ford Escape PHEV gets 105 mpg on a full charge. The hybrid model has an EPA-estimated 44 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. When properly equipped, the Ford Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds, putting it on par with the competition.
How much will the 2023 Ford Escape cost?
Official pricing for the 2023 Ford Escape has yet to be announced. The 2022 Ford Escape will start at around $27,025. The price of the 2023 model will likely increase by a few hundred dollars to cover all the upgrades.
The interior will also be refreshed, including more premium materials such as wood-trimmed leather upholstery and soft-touch overlay surfaces. It also has access to more advanced technology.

We wouldn’t be surprised if the standard 4.2-inch radio display was dropped. Additionally, a larger unit can replace the optional 8.0-inch infotainment screen. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster also gets better graphics.

2023 Ford Escape spy photos
During what looked like a photo shoot, one of our spy photographers spotted the 2023 Ford Escape in full. This is clearly an updated model, although the front fascia has changed significantly. The design borrows from the Mustang Mach-E and other recent Ford models, such as the Evos concept and the new Model.
While the outgoing Escape had an almost smiling low fascia, the new model has a much higher nose. It also has a wider and more blunt hexagonal grille. The shape is clearly a nod to other Fords.
It also features an LED running light bar that bridges the headlights above the grille. In those, The headlights also have a more unique running light design. The fog lights are smaller and appear to fit inside the small grille, rather than filling the space in the bumper designed for them.

Much of the rest of the updated Escape looks unchanged. The taillights have a slightly different pattern from them, and it looks like the side skirts have been massaged.
This example does show a new color scheme that paints the wheel arches and other decorative body colors rather than leaving them behind Contrasting black plastic.
Since this Escape appears to be for press and marketing photos, we bet we’ll see it soon. It may launch this year as 2023. It may have a slightly updated interior to match the new body. Likewise, it will certainly offer the same turbocharged gas array Engines and plug-in and non-plug-in hybrids.

The 2023 Ford Escape will be the first model year of the fourth-generation Escape. It will be based on the same platform as the 2020 Ford Explorer and will feature a new exterior design.
The interior will be updated with a new infotainment system and more comfortable seating. The 2023 Escape will be available with a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder or V6 engines and front- or all-wheel drive.
